I managed to get down to Earls Court 2 last week to have a nose around 100% design, the trade show for interior trends and products. Browsing with buyers and interior designers the show appeared well attended.
The area that stood out the most to me was that of lighting, lighting continues to be innovative and impressive.
Of course there were the beautiful and massive chandeliers set on huge stands against black back drops so that the chandeliers look absolutely stunning. I loved the Big Big Bling Necklace Light by Penelope Batley - lights set in baubles in giant necklaces draped in the home ( would love to have one of these if I had the space) and the large cinematic lamps by Fortuny, good for a games room.
I was also impressed by the invisible loudspeakers set in the wall behind plaster, now that's clever.
There was a little bit of china, some cute pugs and chihuahua porcelain figurines a modern take on the old staffordshire dogs and figures.
Next door in Earls Court 1 was an international gaming expo being attended by large coach loads of young men and the occasional woman, like many 'tribes' thay seemed mostly be to dressed in their adopted uniform which was mainly black, grey and denuim with some piercings. I did wonder for a moment whether I could pop in but I didn't quite have the uniform and I didn't have a ticket, perhaps another time.
