100% Design

Posted on 9:35am Friday 1st Oct 2010

It's been a busy week at the desk this week, some commissions and new work exploring new designs and experiments in colour.  The mood of the weather has changed to welcome this cosy work in the studio and at the computer, aided by lots of cups of tea and a warm radiator !

I have decided to post any new design items onto the website under a category 'Collective ' this will sit beside my existing portfolio range and I will use it as a portal for new ideas and responses and then where there is potential perhaps move the design to the creation of a new range.  Already I have produced the digi plates, a series of different designs for coupe plates and I have a couple of cappucino cups and saucers to add in to the Collective soon.

I am also in the process of updating my commissions page with photos of recent work so look out for that as well !

Last Sunday I took a trip over to Earls Court and 100% design, it was a glamorous event, with some large glossy stands, the sense was largely of muted colours but there were some pockets of colour explosion presented by some stands, these were thrilling and glorious with jewel bright textiles and bright surfacing for furniture.

Also of interest was the workshop where a colour forecast team explained how they set about creating a forecast for interiors and how the 2011/ 2012 forecast has come about.  Some of the thinking raises a smile, for instance the use of a colour called 'deathly pallor' although representing the gothic trend for interiors is also considered reminscent of the sector of our society that are addicted to excessive gaming ( nice one ....).

So look out for deathly pallor but use this softened by warm neutrals set against shimmering purples and indigo blues and highlight with warm reds and oranges to be bang on trend !
